Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: What is a good rootstock for pomelos?
« on: December 28, 2023, 09:30:30 AM »
Seng, it can be grafted on most citrus variety, but you should probably try to match the final tree size (branch/trunk) of the rootstock you want to use with that of the large pomelo branches and fruits.

Although, just for fun, I did graft my large pomelo (Thong Dee - 5 lb fruits) to my Australian Finger lime tree and the graft is growing so maybe in 2 years I will have a 5 lb pomelo on my finger lime tree.

It may also have resistance to citrus greening disease!

Kaolin clay is very good for bug repellent and sunscreen.Bentonite clay is usually what boring companies and well drillers use.If it's opaque enough it should work, piece of sun screen material, white latex paint mixed half with water and that last a while.I sometimes just use palm fronds and leather ferns.

"Chempajack CH17 is a smelly sweet and small type and is not a glamorous as some. "

Thank god mine was a seedling! The fruits were large close to 15 to 18lbs and Quite good!I don't know if the large fruit is because of growing here or what. Most of my jaks are over size here to all the way to 134lbs which is world record size!

That's to hot for day temps you can get flowers but most will be "male" at that temp. This is well known documented info from TREC.

If the highs in greenhouse stay in mid 60s good chance. If those turn out to be leaves you may cut them off and try to reset the clock. Is this tree large enough to hold fruit?

The age old problem of included bark!I think it may be possible to remove it with a fine blade vertical cut down in the branch and then seal it for normal union.
