What's causing my plums to split?

(1/1)

NewGen:
It's a potted weeping Santa Rosa.
Thanks,

AndrewAZ:
Not sure it is the same, but, pomegranates split from uneven watering.

Citradia:
Probably too much water. The tree takes up too much water faster than the skin of fruit can grow and it splits.

Plantinyum:
I have had gooseberries split when starting to ripen, from too much water, or probably uneven watering that is. I have a feeling that fruits get more willing to split when they start to get ripe, prolly the tissues get more soft, dus more cannot stand an sudden increase of water ...thats just how I understand it ..
