Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: root rot strategy

You can make a small hill and plant the tree on top of that as it will dry faster.

27
I made these tubular tree guards from chicken wire and this is how they look on the tree.

28
I know those snapping turtles from TV.We dont have them in Europe.
Just came from one of the almond fields where i installed chicken wire around 58 trees today.
Will post pictures in the chicken wire tree protection forum i made .

As for the camera,i bought this drone DJI Phantom wich came with the 4 K camera for free.
Its a Phantom 1 ,the oldest model from DJI and not the newer expensive ones .
I am building a custom battery for it to fly a lot longer time and longer range ,then il make nice videos with all my trees and also i want to film with the drone where Nitraria Scoberi grows .

Been living in a city and i like to hear owls at night.
I even like to hear dogs barking at night or roosters in the morning.

I even find relaxing to hear the ships engines passing on the Danube at night when i go fishing and sleep outdoor.

On comunist times we would call the guy from ,,The most belowed of earthlings,, and he would come from the gulag to deal with the rodents  ;D.
The title refers to a verry much loved person like Kim Jong Un( or Ceausescu) but the book is about a philosopher intelectual thats send to gulag and after he is freed he works as the rat control man .

I use a modified squirrelinator. I use wire to secure the lid shut, otherwise the squirrels can escape.

I bait upside down in a shaded area for three days, and on the fourth, I flip and check often.

Then I switch spots and continue.

Thry seem to be ignoring my squirrenator this year.  Squirrels are a major pain to deal with.  Im considering gwtting some cats but my neighbor said that they wont hunt unless their mom teaches them how as a baby.
Female cats are the biggest hunters.Males dont hunt nearly as much.
Female cat plus sterilisation and food for the rest of her life is expensive to be used as a rat repellent.
All cats are chasing little animals that move ,even if they dont hunt.
My male cat is chasing my squirrel on the ground while she is jumping from branch to branch and tree to tree .
And sometimes she barks at him.
He will never catch the squirrel thogh ( endangered tree squirrel not ground squirrel).
I dont like when they catch sparrows and i saved a few sparrows ( also a pigeon/ dove ,that the cat jumped with her in mouth from a tree and they i runned after the cat until he released the pigeon wich then flew away)from their jaws right after they caught them.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Geodesic dome greenhouse build
« on: July 26, 2020, 04:08:59 PM »
Tomorrow im going to start building the 5 triangular windows on the top of the dome.
All 5 windows on the top will open and close at same time and look somewhat like a flower opening her petals.
Il be using stainless steel bolts and nuts and plates to weld and build all the hinges custom as there is nothing like this that can be bought or found for sale.

Be carefull because if they are wounded, they can attack you and they bite the balls .

Everything is looking great Mark!  When you bag your fruit in those protective bags, do you ever have problems with early molding or decay on the fruit?  I tried using the bags on peaches, apples, etc. and the lack of airflow seems to doom them.  Doomed if you do, doomed if you don't situation.
He bagged the graft not the fruit.

35
I am building radiant floor heating for my greenhouse but instead of water passing through pipes il use a burried chimney directly ,made from stainless steel and instead of plastic foam under the chimney,il use fireproof Ytong.

Something like this but with burried chimney and the fire hole will be actually outside the greenhouse and fed automatically with wood chips.
Its similar to the roman hypocaust sistem.

Nice but overengineered and from what ive read ,that method hasnt been used in any vaccine by now.
On the otther hand, the chinese vaccine its trusty ,made from real covid 19 and by using the oldest, best known and most reliable vaccine developing method.
Its also in phase 3 close to finish.
I dont need vaccine but id pick the chinese vaccine if id had to .

Nice gipsy that probably stole more fruits than anybody else on this forum.
Became EU parliamentarian for 8 years then moved back to our nice country to live a humble and honest life.
For a professional thief to live where he lives after being like 8 years high end politician it doesnt seem he stole much.
Im glad that USA or otther countryes didnt stole our national value, this gipsy.

The otther bad guys- send them to the gulag   ;D.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Wood shaving in potting mix?
« on: July 14, 2020, 06:43:57 PM »
I wouldnt use oak because of the danger of spreading Armillaria.
Also if you mix wood with soil, you deplete you soil of Nitrogen( at first) as wood doesnt contains nitrogen, just a lot of carbon.
In order to be composted it needs a lot of nitrogen and bacteria, fungus, will take all the nitrogen for themselves to break down the wood and you either add more N to the pot or your plant will starve.

42
It depends on the plant roots. For taproots you need tall pots.
For shipping i think you want smaller pots with light soil ,so that the shipping wont cost too much.
That good is that Billardiera Cymosa that you plan on doing business with it?

Somme of my best friends are gipsy but those are decent people.
I dont discriminate them but here even the stray dogs are racists. If they smell your a gipsy they start to bark and chase you.

Good news for people,China made vaccine based on real coronavirus ( covid 19) ,had entered phase 3 trial,2 weeks ago,in Brasil and somme arab countryes.
Thousands of people are vaccinated and it seems its effective but it will take a few months to see if the cases drop in those countryes areas where the vaccine is tested.
Its 100% efficient after 2 vaccines in 28 days.
By the end of the year or the beginning of the next year, they say it will be available for everybody.
We dont hear it from news in the west because its made in China but i think this is good news even for me wich il not get vaccinated because i am allready immune from covid.

I had a neighbor above my city apartment that was both World wars veteran and really old man.
One day a gipsy was in the linden tree( tillia tree, lime tree) on the sidewalk and colecting flowers to sell them for tea.
But he was breaking manny tree limbs to get to the flowers wich annoyed the old man ,that throwed with an axe right into the thief .
The thief fell from the tree in a spectacular way with all the big branches he cut.It survived but was badly injured.
Altough the old man throwed the axe on a long distance from first floor( height must have helped him) like a pro and the fall was spectacular,it wasnt the right thing to do.
Wasnt even his property, its public property.
Now a days he would have been charged with atempted murder.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Drones that plant seeds
« on: July 11, 2020, 04:18:56 PM »
Just ordered an used Phantom quadcopter .
Found it at a really good price,75 dollars and it also has a 4k action camera similar to Gopro plus 2 batteryes but both are completely discharged even thogh one its brand new.
This is just to start training .

This is the same drone that terorists used in Syria with atached small explosives ,like grenades , until  DJI banned these drones from using GPS in Syria.
Its a nice company and an interesting fact.

47
There is a russian on the forum here that has the house inside a greenhouse and seems to be working great.

48
I want to buy these and if anybody has them and willing to ship ,i will pay for them.
Let me know in PM of here.

I know they are valuable seeds and hard to obtain.

49
Of course there are mango with resinous taste in the flesh ,but what i said its the resinous taste its most concentrated near the fruit skin.
If you eat a resinuous taste mango, closer to the peel its a lot more resinous .
I know because its my favourite part of a mango.
There are also mango without noticeable resinous taste of the skin but i ussualy dont like those .

As for coronavirus, thats bullshit, dont trust me on it  ;D .
You probably dont deserve to eat the pollen from the bees.
Better have more bees than trolls and ignorant fellow humans.
Nobody forced you to read what i said about coronavirus and  in future do not read such crappy posts.

50
The resinous taste of the mango its actually poison and concentrated more near the peel.
I like it but ive read somme people are alergic to it because its same toxin as found in a deadly poisonous fruit related to mango( suicide apple?) just in much less quantity.
Look into mango toxicity to find out more about this.
EDIT: mango peel contains urushiol like poison ivy.
