Hi,

How do you determine how much to water these particular plants? I have a few different soils (miracle gro, coir mix, gritty mix) so I was wondering if someone could share their estimated watering frequencies and any tips. I'm also in CA zone 9b.

Also, I tried the paper towel germination method and 3 out of 6 seedlings sprouted roots very well, the successful ones making several punctures in the paper towel. The not so successful 3 just had a bit of black on them and didn't sprout at all, though I did buy them international (therefore irradiated). I planted them anyways just incase they might turn around though I'm not really expecting it to do so. Should I be setting these in sunlight or shade the first few weeks?

Hello,

What do most people on this forum do to germinate their mango seeds? Is it okay to wrap each seed in a paper towel and lightly spray with water and store in a cupboard for a week, or are there other better methods to germinate?

Hi all,

I'm curious where people find mango seeds here in the US. I'm having a lot of trouble finding any store that sells mango seeds, since most of the ones I've come across either sell small, growing trees or just the scions.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Planting seeds from fresh fruit vs. buying seeds?

If I'm interested in growing an Alphonso mango tree, is it possible to plant the seed from a store bought Alphonso mango to try and grow a mango tree? Is there any difference to that vs. buying a mango seed from someone else? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I just have no idea.
