White guava ID. What varieties are most common in South Florida
« on: January 06, 2021, 07:40:53 PM »
This guava was tagged Ruby Supreme .I got it off of Facebook Marketplace. Advertised as coming from Zhpp. Does not look like a ruby but it is very sweet and good. Does anyone have an idea what variety it could possibly be?

It's called 'Kilo' guava. Excellent white guava that has done well, producing large sweet fleshy fruits. I've only had one in ground for 3-4 years so jury still out on long term health in our soils. But so far so good. No fruit fly infestation yet on these. I was under the impression nematodes in our soil eventually do them in.

Where I can I get one. All my guavas are red (ruby supreme, malaysian, barbie).

Can you eat it crunchy? Or it is a soft type? How is the taste? Does it have any tanginess to it?
