Not sugar apple, you’re even luckier
It’s a Rollinia (Annona mucosa/Rollinia deliciosa).

Second the syzygium but the growth habit also looks a bit like garcinia. I’d say syzygium  :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Can anyone identify this annona tree

Custard apple (annona reticulata)
I think Rollinia leaves are more glabrous and larger, and the new growth is whiter and sometimes even pink.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Is achacha garcinia humillis?
« on: September 07, 2021, 07:59:27 PM »
I have seen some debates on whether achacha is g. Humillis, and of course searching just made a bunch of achacha articles pop up. Just want to get this clarified a bit since a while ago I saw a thread of an “actual” garcinia humillis.
Thanks! :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Java apple (莲雾)
« on: September 05, 2021, 06:44:36 PM »
After read more online, there are three type, white which is the one I ate, pink and red.  Red is the sweetest one.
I think the one you ate is a red one. Red ones are like that when they aren’t ripe  :). When they turn ripe, they turn red but you picked it early so it isn’t sweet. White jambu is completely white with no pink or red
I hope I cleared things up a bit  :D

It looks like it could stay on just a bit longer but I heard the white varieties are very sweet.  :)

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Is Grafting lychees possible?
« on: September 02, 2021, 09:22:38 PM »
Hi, I have a lychee seedling i want to graft some named varieties onto. is this possible? I tried searching onlin but all i got was "air grafting" (for those of you who dont understand its air layering  :o)
If its possible, are there any cons to this and pros to this? How about the take rate? Thx  ;D

I have passiflora decaisneana, ligularis and quadrangularis ML (PQML) cuttings.  $2 per cutting ( minimum 5 cuttings).  Shipping fee $9 priority mail only in U.S.

The vines are growing in San Jose, CA (9b).  If you are below 9b, you have to have a greenhouse; otherwise, they will die in winter.  For pollination, use its own pollen.  You can cross these passilforas together.  For grafting, you can graft them on other passifloras.

Passiflora decaisneana pictures (flower, fruits)

Passiflora quadrangularis ML (PQML) pictures (flower and fruits)

Passiflora ligularis pictures ( flower and fruits)

Do you protect the giant granandilla or granandilla in winter? Thx ☺️

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Green sapote seed sprouted

I got these from SeedTalkOC. Took 29 days. Pouteria viridis :)

Maybe natural thinning. The tree probably can’t support too many at once.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Cherimoya not putting out new growth
« on: July 28, 2021, 12:38:25 AM »
Stress from transport I think. My cherimoya took a very long time, it didn’t grow and then after a while, it started slowly yellowing up it’s leaves and dropping them from bottom to top. After the last leaf dropped, it started growing on the areas the leaves were attaches to the stem.
I think I should’ve just stripped it since true annonas have their buds under the leaf stem, so they can only grow after the leaf falls

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: lychee tree looks horrible

That doesn’t look like a lychee. It looks a bit more like my atemoyas.

Hi, I’ve come back after a while of not posting. I have since got a couple annonas to sprout, including a pond apple. Not sure what to do with it to be honest, but here it is

Me being me a couple months ago, I just tried to grow it as a collector item. Not sure what to do with it anymore
Also I got an atemoya to sprout as well as a rollinia (after it got brought outside it died back a bit but the stem is ok)

Also got some cherimoyas as well from someone else. They’re doing fairly well outside. He told me that they’re the best variety he’s tried so far. 😀 Also got 2 other cherimoya I got myself from seeds and online for rootstock, they’re trying to grow but they look scrawny. 🙁

TY Seanny, how would you describe the flavor and texture of 48-17?

Flavor was ok the year before, bad last year.
Texture was soft.

Leaves on your tree also look like leaves on a cherilata.
No fruits here.
I think cherilatas have wider leaves.

21
It looks a bit like atemoya but mostly custard apple, temoylatas are quite rare so I think that’s not the case 🤔

How much protection does an unheated greenhouse usualLy offer?

This is kinda me...  having no idea what my banana is... luckily I was able to identify it as a Orinoco but others... I honestly down care much

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Re: grafting che on mulberry
« on: April 17, 2021, 01:40:00 PM »
I would say maybe but highly unlikely.

25
Yes, I think people are not trying from cuttings or air layers because others are saying it won't work well,
but everyone should experiment and see what works best.
For example, mulberry do great from cuttings, Jackfruit is also related to mulberry, so maybe it can also do great when grown from a cutting.
And fig
