Seeds are very difficult to get and I have a limited quantity.

Atherton oak is a highly ornamental nut producing tree with flowers almost identical to that of macadamia, to which it is closely related. The nuts, which are similar in appearance to oyster nuts, are contained in a powder blue flesh which should be discarded being inedible, but is not toxic. The tree itself can grow extremely large in time but will bear nuts in 5-7 years. The nuts are described as having a taste similar to macadamia and coconut in that they are crispier than macadamias. The tree is a very desirable hardwood species producing beautiful timber. Nut is as good or better than macadamia and is nowhere near as hard to crack. Similar to pecan ion terms of shell hardness.

A great 'dinosauric' looking tree with large leaves.  Please click the link for images:

Athertonias are still pretty hard to crack but the nut is great to eat. That blue husk makes it easy to find on the forest floor. They are a very ornamental sub tropical tree (tropical highlands).Good sized trees get loaded and are very striking.

Those pictures do not do them justice as they are often brilliant blue like Elaeocarpus  angustifolius which share the same habitat.

I came into a few of these not long ago and was wondering how do you germinate these. I have left a couple as is and opened a few planting the kernel. not sure which will give the best results.
