How many years do we have to wait for Achacha from sprouting to bear fruits?
Are there any friends who can tell me about more detailed and correct information?

Mine took about 6/7 years, but if you grafted it can be half, in my garden sets two crop a year, one right now and then in Oct/Nov.

mine must be about 7yr old or more, still no flowers...about 6.5ft tall

According to a commercial farmer in Brasil, it may take anywhere between 7 and 10 years to fruit.
A friend of mine reported that one of his trees fruited in 5 years and that tree is a poor producer.
One of my trees is holding fruits after almost 8 years old.
The commercial farmer also recommends growing them from seeds. He said that seedlings are more vigorous and more productive than grafted trees.

Thanks for the info, Berto! Where at in Southwest Florida are you growing the Achachairu? How big is your tree at ~8 years and is it in ground, in pot, full sun?

Approximately 10 feet tall in ground, full sun, irrigation 3 times a week. It was planted in a rich organic mound.
I am in Fort Myers.

No. Achachairu produces perfect flowers. All you need is one tree. I guess cross pollination will improve fruit production.

It think you should also be asking about planting distance. Someone mentioned that trees get very wide eventually despite being relatively short.

Achacha grove in QLD, Australia. Haven't found any other photos of groves (I'm sure there are some in S. America)

I think that was me. I wish i'd given my tree more room. Yes it has gotten very wide. Despite growing very slow first few years it has really taken off now. It is around 8+ years old. It has fruited once, just a few fruits, and now is totally loaded. They are a lot more slow to bear fruit than i would have liked, but it looks like it's going to make up for that by being a very prolific fruiter. 8) The fruits are inside the the canopy, so unless you look carefully you can miss their fruiting...until fruits are spotted by becoming bright orange.

Here, several have fruited in 5 years. They can really be wider than they are tall. I think some of the branches are 8m long on trees about 15 years old. One thing is that the fruit is pretty easy to harvest. The branches are very horizontal and easy to climb if necessary. The fruits can still be sour when they are light yellow. It is well worth the wait until they are practically orange in color.

I have seen a tree with more than 500 fruits hanging. The tree' diameter was close to 10 meters.
As far as cold hardiness, I am not sure. Here in Fort Myers, they don't even flinch during the Winter time.

They are sub tropical, originally from foothills of the Andes, so they can take some cold, but can't tell you exact temperatures. As i vaguely recall, Santa Cruz, the area in Bolivia where they are native to gets sometimes 34-35F, but never freezing.

How about fruiting habits or pruning? There must be a way to keep them down.

They seem to actively grow during winter here, which gets to 4c, so they can take lower than that.

I have one growing in full sun in Darwin Northern Australia which is about 1.2 meters high. It has been in the ground for around 18months I am surprised that the fun sun doesn't burn some leaves but it doesn't effect it at all.

Mine is slow growing 7'. It's been on the ground 4 years should flower soon

Aus comercial orchard also appears to be about 10 meters apart. As per Peter's observation that distance seems to be needed to increase to pretty astonishing 15-16 meters. At 10 meters apart 8 meters horizontal branches would grossly encroach into another tree's theritory.
I wish I knew this before. Looks like about 4 achachas will need to be sacrificed for mulch.

I've ordered Achachas from both TopTropicals and Plantogram. Both were very similiar in size - about 2 feet tall and not very bushy. Don't be dumb like me and order one from Plantogram - their price is double the price of TopTropicals and the plants are identical.

Wow that's a huge distance, it'll be a while before the space fills in between the trees. It would be amazing to see a mature tree with big spacing in fruit...thousands and thousands of fruits!
We have two trees that are about 15 ft apart...they are over ten yrs now. this year each tree has over well over 200 fruits. ones about 20 ft tall the other 15... They are starting to touch each other. At the time bought them, they were still being called a Few different names...bakupari, achachairu, wasn't sure what size they got. I thought the trees were going to stay small. Eventually I'll mulch the less productive one...but for now they are happy together...and more fruit than just one tree. Many volunteers below the tree, in the wild I figure they would grow quite close to each other naturally
For the first 3 yrs after planting I ritually went to Starbucks got the free coffe grinds and spread around the area of the tree along with all the kitchen compost. Most times this helped them grow/fruit faster

3 gal about 3 foot tall.
