White Jade Pineapple

Who's growing "white jade" pineapple? or has tasted?  Or has any info?

I hear Frankie sells this type exclusively...and it was selected by Dr. Zee of Hilo, HI.

Pineapples Saff? The never ending pineapple season throws up mareeba gold right now.


With no other supersweet acid free rivals it can throw its weight around the markets.

 



It has a great taste but for me its all in the eyes.

I have never heard of white jade and because they are so cheap probably would not grow pineapples.I had a giant queen roughleaf that was great but I could have bought 7lbers for $2.50 so I gave up them.

white jade is reportedly so soft upon picking, that it's not a good commercial crop...another good reason to grow abacaxi. and have new delicious treasure...not available in stores!

I just plant tops  of decent ones I can find. The best all have their tops removed so home growers have to buy the best. I have a three headed monster just about ripe now.

I was able to try White Jade at Frankie’s in Hawaii and at a friend’s house in Mississippi who got plants from Hawaii. It was a very good pineapple to me! It was white fleshed, low acid and the interior was 100% edible! One of my favorites but I do not know of anyone growing it! It should be one that everyone would want to grow in their backyard!

Sounds good.  Sounds a lot like Sugar loaf.

I'm currently growing Smooth Cayenne, Sugarloaf and Elite Gold.
