Juicy Pearls are in fruit later than the starapples and are a great fruit.

Have a seedling from Steve growing really well here. Was surprisingly cold tolerant over its first winter (we had two frosts).
How true to type are the seedlings?

I have posted about these before. I assume they are C.argentium auratum and Oscar has a form of them in Hawaii. There is only a single seed and many are seedless and unlike starapples there is not the darker underleaf colour. The trees are smaller than starapple trees and the fruit has thinner skin.
The peak fruiting time for strapples is late winter through spring here whereas juicy pearls are spring and summer.

So stoked to hear about this.  I got a seedling from
Micah years ago.  The tree is flourishing now.  About 6’ tall and very healthy.   Can’t wait to taste these someday.
With 3 acres of prime real estate for growing tropicals... why not create my own garden of eden?? Work in progress

All of my fruits have just one seed inside. Don't remember any of them being seedless. They are sweeter than regular starapples. But best thing is that their season is a whole lot longer than regular starapples. My tree has fruits on it right now, but still green, i think about one month from start of harvest.

Hey Mike,

Do you know what time of year they are pruning the Juicy Pearls that are on the trellis? My seedling has filled it's trellis and needs a prune, but are too young to flower. I need to trim it and would like to get on a pruning schedule that suits the flowering and harvest times. Also do any of them have a little gold on the backs of the leaves or are they all pure green? Mine has leaves much bigger than the standard star fruit but still a little bronze on the back vs the small leaves and dark bronze of my star apples. Also has that skunky smell in hot humid weather.

They can fruit immediately after trimming. The trellised ones usually get trimmed in winter but I think it was in September this year with the ones I received fruit from.

Went to prune and found a few of these. I guess it heard me threatening to cut it.

Do you have any seeds to sell?  Or anyone?  I would really like to get this variety.  I only have the purple and the green type.

Fruits hanging green on tree still. Should have seeds in about one month.
