Piper nigrum propagation issues
« on: June 28, 2019, 09:58:23 AM »
Hello all.

A question on infection.

I am familiar with different methods of Piper propagation.  We cant use seeds. Now we are sticking with layering but we keep getting a crippling percent of black rot.  Even on potted plants that i root onto other pots (nodes already have root buds), they start to rot as well...im a bit stuck on why and how to fix it.  Would really appreciate some help if anyone has any experience :)

Use a copper spray, the problem is bacterial rot.

I too, have had some issues with my black pepper which sound the same.
I took a photo, is this similar to what you are seeing?

I have had the fine coming up on a year now,
I have lost multiple feet from my vines, and lots of leaves.
The problem still seems to be lingering and
I am worried that I might lose some of the new growth to it again in the future.
