Hello Mango Friends!

Does anyone know anything about the Tropical Punch mango from the Zills?  I have a couple and interested in hearing about parentage if anyone knows

Could Tropical Punch be Providence but just renamed?  I was comparing the pics from Tropical Acres and my fruit and they look similar.  The description seems to fit the bill - it's a later season mango and a large fruit.  I don't have a scale but I'd say it's easily a pound.

Here's a link to Tropical Acres where he has more pics - https://www.tropicalacresfarms.com/product-page/providence

That's interesting.  If you got that mango from Zill, that could be the case.  I had Providence mangos last summer, and that's what they look like.  The flavor is tropical-punch-like, and they are later season and very large (well over a pound).  https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=6398.825

Thanks for clearing that up!  So it does have similarities to Providence as they both are believed to have come from Kent, and they're both large fruit.  Alex says Zill-80 is a parent of Fruit Punch, Carla, Super Alphonso, and others.  I'm hoping Carla is more MBBS-resistant.

Thanks a lot!  Super Alphonso was in my top 5 mangos this year, so excited to try Zill-80!  Debating on even growing the seed and waiting if I get a top tier late season variety!
