Tropical Fruit Discussion / irradiated fruits and seed germination

I have managed to germinate Langsat, Durian, longan, lychee and jackfruit seeds that were irradiated in Thailand/Asia before exporting them. Even though they were exposed to radiation some fruit seeds seems to germinate just fine except for Rambutan and mangosteen. I always get zero germination with these two species.

Do you guys have any idea ?.

I Finally had a chance to try Red (or deep orange) Malaysian JF and It was great. it didn't taste like any regular JF that I had before and surely it wasn't sweet as the yellow ones ( could be picked too early). For me, It taste like papaya and cantaloupe mixed together but, still have the jackfruit aroma and almost latex free.

Overall, I believe it's worth growing if you have the space.

Since i live in a desert I'm looking to add more organic matter to my soil. Woodchips is certainly a better choice for me because of low sodium content. However, the price of one bag of mulch is around $10 for 10kg (22lb). Which is more expensive than a bag of NPK (I'm not kidding).

I can also get a bag of heat treated manure (cow&chicken) straight from the factory but i have to drive 155km (100 miles) from my home .Each bag cost around $2.8 for 25kg (55lb).

I tried growing over 50 ilama from seeds. They do fine at first but, then they decline and die with no reason. It could be from city water or soil, I really don't know.

So, my only hope is graft ilama on Sharifa (local name for annona squamosa) when the weather become cooler.
