Is that the Sugarlata Mike?

This fruit is from my sugarlata seedling.
The first one I ate was amazing. It was very savory and
I could barely finish one.
The red fruit is a Thai #1

Great!!! It does look like the one from John Painter’s , the shape and color, but that one was pretty big , as big as a soda can in size, i guess your’s will get that size as the tree ages.

Do you have a photo of the inside of that sugarlata Mike? How seedy is it?

I guess it does not, it is a hybrid like atemoya, but i think Mike would know better, this looks like it came true to seed.

It agree with Satya, it is a cross and can vary. I have two seedlings from the same fruit and I planted the
second recently and hopefully next year I will have 2 fruting trees. The second one
which had been in a pot is much smaller and did not fruit this year.  My tree, the flowers
resemble the mother tree with curled petals, the fruit size resembles the mother tree and
I am not sure the taste. I have only eaten one fruit ever from my tree. My second fruit is almost
ready!

I ate a sugarlata today WOW!
It split on the tree like an ilama only it was soft and
ready to eat.
The first one also split and was superb. I picked one in between the
two and softened on the counter and the split ones was the way to go!
It is incredible. It only had about 15 seeds which is nice also.
Now I have a three way tie for my favorite fruit in my yard this year
between a sweet tart mango and Isan Indigo and now the sugarlata.

Glad to hear these annonas are turning up tasty!! I gotta say a tree ripe, split annona tastes 1 million times better than picked early and "ripened" off the tree, make that any tree ripened fruit...
