Hey Adam, how you going? Have you any myrciarias / plinias seeds available. Chasing some more white seeds and see what else you may have. Take care.

I'm heartbroken... Yes, I can buy seeds and I am actually looking up things on the DAF website to check which ones get thru Oz just fine, and which ones have to be sent to the Phils. But I do not want seeds, I prefer plants.  :'(

@FlyingFoxFruits I can scrub the loo, pamper pets, weed, water, climb fences in the dead of night to scope out trees, you name it. Are you open to adopting an Oz fruitloop?

Donnan

Don...now I have just about 100 plinia aureana seeds left...one of the most expensive seeds I sell..the price varies between $4-5 per seed..will eventually go down..but could be years before they are affordable.

I have been planting lots of seeds...so they aren't always for sale

I almost always have red jaboticaba seeds (Plinia cauliflora hybrid)

Myrciaria vexator should be soon
Plinia trunciflora in April usually

Congrats, you made it! We're fortunate to have a resource for jaboticaba like you. People still see them as one single thing. "You sell jaboticaba? I already got it."

OT: I wouldn't trust the BBB too much either. Businesses can pay for positive reviews on pretty much any review site like yelp. Hard to trust anyone these days, even random people...

The jabo leave's are started to turn a red/brown color. I assume its from the chlorine/chloramines in the water.
Can you recommend an inline water filter?

Mine were doing the same thing. So I finally installed inline filters. This was something that I had been meaning to do for awhile but I finally took the time over the Holiday break last month. I had to do a little excavation to get access to my irrigation lines, which was the biggest part of the project for me.

I opted for the BodyMindSoil (BMS) filter which reduces chlorines and chloramines by a huge amount (95-99% IIRC) and they also have a hard water filter media which is also what I opted for. Here is what I did:

I am using one on my garden hose, two on my drip irrigation system

On my garden hose end I have:
- quick disconnect
- Hose to NPT adapter
- 3 GPM NPT flow regulator
- NPT to Hose adapter
- BMS filter
- Garden shower sprayer

I do the quick disconnect so that it is easy to take the filter/sprayer assembly off the end of the hose when I am done using it. And I have the filter on the hose end so that I am holding it so it is not ever 'hanging' to avoid stress fracturing

On my irrigation lines (2 zones) I have:
- 1/2" line in ground (from supply)
- 1/2" to 3/4" adapter, NPT threaded end
- NPT to Hose adapter
- short hose length for flexible joint / stress relief into the filter
- BMS filter
- short hose length for flexible joint / stress relief from the filter
- NPT to Hose adapter
- 1/2" to 3/4" adapter, NPT threaded end
- 1/2" line in ground (to gardens / trees)

I excavated around my lines and buried an irrigation control valve box (from Lowes) with side walls and a removeable lid so that I can have access to the filters to replace the filter media when I need to.

And to finish the story: Since I did this my Sabara stopped losing leaves, has greened up tremendously on the new growth and there are swelling buds all over the tree (which is still very small at this point).

Not an expert but that may be normal, as my jabos have some old leaves that haven't yet dropped, and they don't look good at all.  I do have lots of areas of new growth though since we have gotten so much rain this fall/winter.

It's normal for the leaves to turn red brown during winter!  Most of these species are semi deciduous...the leaves wil fall off when the spring rains come!

Ok, I was starting to get worried. I guess its still a good idea to get a chlorine filter anyways.
The pitangatubas or doing fine though.  ;D

Thanks
