Reputability
« on: November 17, 2020, 06:46:37 PM »
Hi everyone-

I was just wondering about the reputability of sites like seedman.com (NOT to be confused with seedsman.com) and tradewindsfruit.com. Has anyone bought from either of these sites?

Thank you!

Tradeswind is a good company, fast delivery and good prices on most seeds. Viability is good on seeds most of time as well. Cant't speak of the others.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

I agree with nullzero, tradewinds is a good place to order from. Top tropicals also sells seeds that have met my expectations.

I've purchased from seedman.com. I remember being impressed by the selection on their website. The customer service was good and the quality seemed good. The seeds come in a small, resealable plastic bag which is, I would guess, medium weight. The label has growing directions, place of origin, and germination rate. I only ordered from them once so far because I've been looking at distributors which are more local.

I have. Most of what I buy from them germinates fast. The seeds arrive fast in packets with clear instructions for each species. Good company IMO

I order regularly from Trade Winds Fruit. The seeds are fresh and sometimes even arrive half geminated because they are so fresh.

I have bought many different nut crops from these guys. It was always sent quickly and the seeds always have a high germination rate. This is just my personal experience with nuts. I cannot be sure for other types.

Nothing wrong with asking here , but thought I'd add Ever see the reviews on Daves Garden
This has nothing to do with the companies you asked about , but  This could be good because some companies change hands

You can see what year they are made
By the way I ordered California Grape (vitis california ) on trades wind so I have no problems with that site (or any of these)

That section of garden web is the Garden watch dog

As a matter of fact your asking about seed companies today I searched for something unrelated, and found this site out of AZ (south Africa)
(they have a lot of stuff , and  a Persimmon relative Eucle natalensis , and another Eucle genus )

That is good to hear about Sheffields I wanted to make a large bulk seed order ..

oops this might be better to search from the home  page , and catalog of plants
Site can be confusing,

I know not every one knows families but this might be useful as well

I think your best off buying seed directly from the growers on this site or elsewhere and avoid seed middlemen that operate in a temperate climate often selling and storing short term viable sub-tropical and tropical seeds. A forum search will pull up lots of experiences with the seed biz’s.
