Gas powered hedge trimmer on a pole?
« on: August 29, 2019, 09:11:40 PM »
I am at the point where several of my trees are 12 feet tall or higher. I am just wondering if it would be more efficient to use a gas powered hedge trimmer on a pole instead of trimming by hand on my ladder. Has anyone found this method to be more efficient or not?

Thanks
Brad

Using the disk could be dangerous.
There are small chainsaw tip wich you can apply on the hedge trimmer.Theyre also cheap @ 40 dollars or so ,here.Made in China, not brand names but they do the job well.
Thin branches will flex and cant be cut with the chainsaw kit,you need a long pole scissor for those.

Anything is safer than trimming by hand on a ladder. I have an extended gas pole chainsaw, it makes quick work of my neighbors giant ficus and palms.
Don’t rush, take time and enjoy life and food.

Hi Brad. I hope you are doing well buddy. My preferred method for smaller trees is to free climb and use a silky hand saw. I'm guessing you are planning on keeping the trees down to a manageable height right.

I got a makita electric weed wacker.  Works awesome.  Its also the model that accepts different tips.  Im going to get a headge trimmer attachmwnt and start giving flat top to my citrus.  Check them out, the electric stuff is as powerful as small gas units now and no noise no fumes.  Im using a makita chainsaw and makita weedeater for small tasks.

I use the Ego pole saw which is battery operated and shares the same battery platform as the blower, hedge trimmer. chainsaw, etc. that I also own. https://egopowerplus.com/multi-head-pole-saw/

I try to cut things using a lopper as it cuts cleaner but the pole saw works great.
