yes these are commonly available, and I have several friends with trees..I think it comes from jamaica, and they named it ortanique because it's an Orange crossed with a Tangerine, that is unique...

it's a good fruit, seems to hold on the tree for a while if I remember correctly.

I'm glad you like it Adam. I asked about same thing 5 months ago because i bought a Ortanique tree and was wondering whether it was worth putting in the ground. I asked in the citrus section of forum and opinion about this fruit was not as high as yours:

The ortanique's origin is not far from where i am in Jamaica. There is a huge variation in quality in the fruit in Jamaica depending on where it is planted. Most  groves with the better quality are at some elevation. https://www.flickr.com/photos/kanku123/2938706748/

Resurrection.

I found a beautiful specimen of this variety.

Why is it reports are so different?  Picture above looks like a round fruit, but everywhere else the fruit looks like a tangelo.

Those who say it tastes bad, is it possible they weren't ripe enough?  Usually when reports are 50/50, it is due to one being done right and another wrong.

I've never tried it, and if I get it, it would be because the tree is so nicely shaped.  Great for my landscape.  So tell me, anyone else have a real opinion on this orangarine?
