Hi All,

I am sorry for late response.  I didn't get the notification to my email.  I accidentally visited the site and saw many messages in my account.  I will reply one by one.

I am going to trim my vines.  I put them on sale here.

Passiflora decaisneana (P. quadrangularis X P. alata): $1 per cutting (3 nodes) + shipping (minimun 5 cuttings)
Passiflora quadrangularis ML (P. quadrangularis X P. decaisneana) : $2 per cutting (3 nodes) + shipping (minimun 5 cuttings)

First class mail shipping charge = $6.00
For flat rate Priority mail (only apply to p. decaisneana, not PQML) just pay me 2x.  I will put as much as cuttings inside the box.  For example, $15.50 is priority mail for medium box.  Pay me $31  I put as much as cuttings to fill up the box.

The vines are growing in San Jose, CA (9b).  If you are below 9b, you have to have a greenhouse; otherwise, they will die in winter.  For pollination, use its own pollen.  You can cross these two passilforas together.  For grafting, you can graft them on other passifloras.

Note: P. quadrangularis ML is a new variety.  The taste is the same as P. decaisneana but the fruit is 3x bigger.

This was side veneer, which worked well for my passion fruit vines.

I used cleft graft on my vine.

Hi Beicadad,
The wood covered the upper graft.  I could not see the square stem of P. decaisneana.  I hope you will fruit P. quadrangularis ML (PQML).   It is better than P. quadrangularis.

If you look at the first pic, you can see the edge of the P. decaisneana above the graft union.

Thank you very much for the pictures.  Is it the cleft graft you used?

I grafted the p decaisneana onto a Fredrick and it has 23 fruits now. The fruits are tasty and sweet. Hoang is a great seller. Highly recommended

Hi Beicadad,

I overlooked your picture.  Today I checked it carefully.  It was amazing you got so many fruit in small vine in first year of growing the vine.  I saw some of the fruits are almost ready to eat.  Please tell me how they taste when you eat them.

You grafted it on Frederick.  Is the Frederick in ground or in pot?  Please post the picture at the base of the Frederick.  I noticed you still kept Frederick.  What is the reason to keep it?  Can you post the picture at the join (graft) between the P. decaisneana and Frederick? Thanks.

Hi Hoang,

I live local in Sunnyvale.  Can I just drop by to buy cuttings from you?

thanks!

Hi Jvimal,

Sorry, no local pickup due to the covid-19.

Thanks,

34
Update shipping method, remove the priority mail.  The small box can't hold 3 nodes cutting.

35
Looks good.  I got your package and thanks for the extra cuttings.

Try to get PQML to fruit.  It has an excellent taste, same as P. decaisneana.  It is very difficult to get the flesh of P. decaisneana's rind. Some people just eat the arils of the fruit and throw away the rind.  The rind of PQML is thick, like P. quadrangularis.

36
P. quadrangularis ML (PQML) is better than original P. quadrangularis.  The rind ofPQML is sweeter and the arils has strong fragrance.  I added some of the pictures of PQML taken yesterday in the main post when I ate the fruit.  It has a lot more flesh of the rind than P. decaisneana.

37
Hi Hoang, can we mix the cuttings when we purchase?
example: 3  P. decaisneana , 2 quadrangularis ML

Hi Pandan,

Yes, you can pick both as long as the minimum cuttings is 5.  Please order through PM.  I will ship every Monday or Tuesday.

The passiflora decaisneana cuttings and fruit were great from this seller a while ago. The vine still alive and looking good own its own roots. Coming back for the ML cuttings!

NissanVersa,

Because of the Covid-19, I didn't buy steer manure at the right time.  Therefore, I don't have many fruits to sell this year.  Thank you for putting good words for me.

Did you get a lot of flowers of P. decaisneana this year?  To get excellent fruits, you need to give steer manure as temperature gets warm and try to get flowers in June and July.  After 3 months, the fruits will be harvested in September to November.  If the fruits are ripe in winter, the fragrance reduces a lot.

Great cuttings, and much larger than I had imagined!  Trying to just root them all, but maybe I'll try grafting them onto other vines one day.  Very curious how they will compare in taste to purples.

The purples passion fruits growing in U.S are sweet and sour.  Some passion fruits are very sour such as Frederick and yellow P. edulis.  Some P. edulis from Australia have more sweet than sour.  P. decaisneana fruits are mostly sweet.

40
Today I shipped the cuttings to several people who already paid.  Please check your PM for tracking #.

41
For those who sent PM to me to order, I will send out the cuttings next week.  Please check your PM to confirm. Thanks,

Hi Beicadad,

That is great.  You got 23 fruits first year.  I don't have many fruits this year because I didn't have time to care for it.

Yes, you are the person who grafted P. decaisneana on P. edulis successfully.  Thank you very much for the recommendation.

Perhaps deficient in Boron and Potassium--- I am not at all confident about that.

It hasn't been splashed with deck cleaner, has it?

Hi Har,

Do you refer to my mango leaf issue?  If you do, thank you.

45
Please help to ID the issue of my mango leaf.

update:

Self hand pollination

Frederick

Hi shaneatwell,

When you wrote Frederick, you meant you used Frederick pollen for P. ligularis; didn't you?  Any update of your fruits?  My p. ligularis is also fruiting too in San Jose, CA.  They are changing the color to yellow.

This will be first purchase. Please bare with me. I will send you ¥24 for both passiflora’s you have.
What is the way to pay you? PayPal?
You will send to NYC. I leave to Puerto Rico early December. Hope they won’t die.
Thanks
Emir Lopez

Please check your PM

Thank you, my friends, for letting me know the cuttings I sent out are rooted.  I cut the cuttings the same day I shipped out.  I assume other people who got cuttings from me had no issue of rooting their cuttings.  to keep them through winter, you have to keep the lowest temp above 50F since the cuttings don't have many roots yet.

49
Hoang’s Passiflora decaisneana is really delicious!

Thank you for the comment.  I hope you can grow it and get the fruits.
