Here some Garcinia macrophylla from Ecuador. The lines on the skin a bit different. So Garcinia magnifolia is coming after macrophylla in Mike's rating?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Propagating Russell Sweet Garcinia
« on: July 20, 2020, 05:00:31 PM »
Hi all,
Has anyone had success propagating Russell Garcinia with grafting. If so what rootstock would work. I heard some Asian Garcinias like Garcinia cowa might do a good job. I tried grafting them on Garcinia brasilensis and it was unsuccessful.

Hi All,
Sorry for the late reply. But have only limited access to the Internet.
I will try to answer all questions.

Germination is tricky and in my experience takes a long time. I have seeds germinating right now that were sown last year in august. What is important to soak seeds and then plant in rich soil.  A forum member from Japan told me he had success by adding rock dust,  wormcasts, and some more stuff in the soil.
These trees in their native place reach heights of 15 Meters. I would think that you need to put them in the ground to get good fruit production. For the first couple of years it is ok to keep them in containers. I work with Matthias in Germany. He has my seeds and he is shipping out orders.
Cheers :)

Duguetia marcgraviana 6 Euro
Duguetia lepidota 10 Euro
Duguetia marcgraviana is a fast growing Duguetia with big sweet apricot flavoured fruta.
Duguetia lepidota from the Amazonas in Venezuela. It is one of the best, if not the best of all Duguetias. It has a fabulously creamy sweet apricot-like taste. The inner center of the fruit is edible as well and tastes even better than the pulp around the seeds.
The seeds can take from 3 months to 1 year to germinate and prefer soil rich in organic matter
Shopping will be from Germany

Hi all,
This is a must have for all Duguetia lovers.
Duguetia marcgraviana is a very nice fast-growing tree compared to other Duguetias. It adapts well to a wide variety of tropical climates and produces big size very sweet fruits with an apricot flavor. 5Euro/seed

Duguetia phaeociados, is a nice dwarf size bush tree that withstands severe fires in its native environment. The fruit when fully ripe looks gorgeous. It has a deep red color.
Fruit is a bit smaller than marcgraviana. 6 Euro/seed

Camu Camu/ Myrciaria dubia 2 Euro/seed

Still have germinated duguetia seeds?
Yes have about 30 germinated Duguetia peruviana left

36
This year I  found a new variety of Yara Yara. Instead of orange color it is yellow on the inside. The taste is less juicy and more creamy a bit like a very good Pouteria lucuma  flavor.
When fully ripe the outside skin remains green very different from the normal Yara Yara that turns red when fully ripe. I call this variety Culebra as I found a poisonous snake next to it.
So it seems that  there are quite a few varieties of Yara Yara due to crosspollination. This year I started identifying 3 different varieties.

1 Supreme Delight as seen below. Big fruit but tree not as productive. Taste is sweet with an Orange Apricot flavor, juicy around the seeds and creamy in the center . The Center is the best part of the fruit.
2. SD 2    smaller fruits more productive
3. Culebra  Yellow fruit, less juicy around the seeds   SOLD OUT!!!!

12 Euro/seed

Have germinated Duguetia peruviana seeds  5 Euro/seed. Will load up foto soon.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: YARA YARA SEEDS for SALE/TRADE
« on: August 14, 2019, 04:35:55 PM »
Hi Felipe,
Sorry for the delay in answering
Do you find them in the Amazon basin, or which region in Ecuador? Found them in Venezuela
Are duguetias slow grower, compared to other annonas?  Yes some very slow especially for the first 2 years
Whats the average germination rate for duguetia seeds? Can't tell that depends on many factors.

38
Bummed I missed out on this one. That fruit looks sooooo good. IF ANYONE HAS EXTRA SEEDS and would like to sell/trade, please let me know. Thank you.
Yes to bad I also missed out on this one. If anyone has any extra seeds that I can buy or trade with Duguetia lepidota a very yummy fruit too let me knoiw.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: YARA YARA SEEDS for SALE/TRADE
« on: August 03, 2019, 12:40:55 AM »
What is the growing conditions like for yara yara as in  soil semi damp ,always damp or more arid?Texture of soil sandy or more alluvial?
Where I found it it grows sandy soil. Temperature 20 Degree C to 38 degree C with a pronounced dry season of 4 month and 2300mm rainfall a year. But again I guess it can adapt to a variety of conditions.

Duguetia lepidota, a very rare species.
Dada has been posted this species on this forum since years ago, but I haven't seen anyone found this one other than him.
It's so interesting to know that there's other varieties of this species.
Yes indeed it will be very interesting to research on this species more.  I started this year approachgrafting D.lepidota with D. marcgraviana and it seems a good rootstock for  Duguetia lepidota. Both are a bit similar and have big delicious fruits but I found D. marcgraviana is growing faster so it will be interesting to see if grafted trees can cut down the juvenility of the tree and producew fruits earlier.
