« on: March 31, 2015, 02:30:19 AM »
Hi all fruitnatics,

I'm looking for Luc's Mexican Garcinia plants at least a foot tall or 5 pairs of leaves.
I'm willing to pay or trade scion wood of other fruit trees.

All my seedlings over a year old still only have two leaves. I guess they don't like the Phoenix AZ weather.

Here's what I have available mostly in scion wood:

Apples - fuji, williams pride, whitney, king david, king of tompkins county, sundowner (cripps red)

Stone fruits - mid pride, eva's pride, red baron, tropic snow, flavor grenade, splash, flavor delight, katy, spice zee, weeping santa rosa

Pears - hosui, shinko
Persimmon - hana fuyu, izu, chocolate
Loquat - mcbeth, tanaka, champagne
Mulberry - cooke's pakistan, white shatoot, tehama, dwarf everbearing
Jujube - sugarcane, shanxi li, chico

How big of a pot are you putting the Lucangosteen seedlings in?  The bigger a d deeper the pot the faster & bigger the plant will be.  Most of its first year development is in building it root systems like Kepel & junglesop before it send up extensive solar panel.  Also the seedlings enjoy organic fertilizer & grow faster, keep pot well drain but moist.  I recomend you repot into larger diameter pot  & 12 inch or deeper pot like that used for Pecan seedling, your soil is probably compact & suffocating the root system in the small pot you have now; try that & you will see improvement! It does not like cold soil while growing during its juvenile phase!  Third year it will explode in growth! This is a new specie of garcinia for the most of us, so we are all learning this tree habits outside of it Mexican Origin!  😃

I took this photo today. It is of the largest of a row of Lucangosteens i have planted. This plant is about 7 feet tall. The others a bit smaller. They are in full sun.

Gee I am so jealous Oscar, that  is one hell off  a robust Lucangosteen outside of Luc's Backyard, seen so far! 🌲 How Old is that Mona Lisa?🎑 Look like I have to order a couple bags of Mauno Loa volcanic ash from Hawaii just to catch up with you! Nice pasture, I can visualize a few idylic tender lambs frollicking in those nutritious pasture (or possibly transplant redneck red squirrels)!🐏 Hopefully when it fruits🍈, I think a pasture lamb Agentino asado pit roast with Roast Lucangosteen would be the event horizon🌊; possibly a new tourist attraction beside the traditional Wild Boar Luau with Poi🐖 stuck to the Common man ribs!😃  Man I could sneak in a mini still and make some fine Lucangosteen Moonshine in that thick ancient Orchard while you doing a whole lamb Lucangostee pit roast; now where is your au natureral water supply beside that sad looking irrigation ditch, Appalachia moonshine need good pristine water & volcanic filter might do!🌛☔️🗿 We can charge beaucoup bucks to the Jet Set for a Lucangosteen Luau!🚁✈️🍷 Luc & Raul get to feast for free but the rest of you well heel, this shindig will be the event horizon so a few bucks shed is no consideration hardship!👍👍👍

I lost track of how old it is. Whenever Luc first started sending seeds out?

All four seedlings are in 6 inch pots, but the soil might be too heavy or wet.  I will repot. Thanks.

It's too much work to grow Myrciaria/Plinia in our salty alkaline soil here in Phoenix.

Beleive or not I used pure mulch as the potting soil in airpot, you just have to keep them moist for good fast development!  Look at the current existing in Lucangosteen world experiences here & you see more people post in discussion!😄
