This is a fascinating book with beautiful color illustrations and line drawings. He describes over 2000 speices. It's a 2 volume set, with only the first having been published, and the second volume due out soon. It's very informative and unique in that the author, Marc Van Roosmalen is a primatologist. This book, and several other fruit books he has written, come as a result of over 2 decades studying monkeys in the Amazon jungles. One of his most important observations is of what the monkeys ate and how they dispersed the seeds of the fruits they ate. So there are many unique observations not usually found in books about tropical fruits. There are keys of the families for the botanists, but also plenty of interesting reading for the hobbyist. Highly recommended.
