I can go after work but it'll take me until 7:30 to get there probably.

For 1 day pass they just write down your driver's license info. I guess so they can spam your mail to join.

Marin I saw the trees and they look very healthy. The Cherimoyas look very nice and healthy. Huge leaves on them. They have El Bumpo, Chaffey, and Honeyheart. The Passionfruit vines are full of fruit and they have some great prices on all of the plants.

Quite an impressive display of fruit trees. All trees looked super healthy and vigorous and, above all, very reasonable ....La Verne is taking the big leap, finally. I spoke to a La Verne representative and they are ready to take Tropical fruit market in Southern California and they mean business. Their growing ground are huge bigger than PI. I wish them good luck in their quest to become the big honchos here in Socal.

So I read this a while ago and it got me thinking: If Costco got in a tropical shipment then maybe my local Lowes and Home Depot got some, AND THEY DID!!!! Found a grafted Glenn, Keitt, and Haden mango (along with a Jujube, an Ice Cream banana plant, and generic guavas) and a Rosavaya pomegranate on clearance for $1.75. Picked up the pomegranate and Ice Cream Banana!!! YAHOO!

Now I'm debating which mango I should grab. Either pick up the Glenn or Keitt at $50 with the La Verne graft or go back to Mimosa and grab a Carrie for $120. If I choose a La Verne one tomorrow which one do you guys think would perform well near the coast? The Glenn or Keitt? These will be container grown.

No NDM and Keitt, only mangos are Haden, Glenn and Manila. The cheimoyas available are El Bumpo, Honeyheart and Chaffey. The rest are persimmons, asian pears, seedling mammey, and three kinds of passion fruit. That's it. Hopefully they will bring in more interesting stuff later.

I can't understand why you guys pay so much for fruit trees.Grafted mangoes, atemoya and in fact nearly all fruit trees are $18 to $35 across the variety of outlets here.

I hear you... I am considering spending $120 for a grafted Lucuma. Just because no one else over here has high quality grafted Lucuma varieties. Suppy and demand I guess, the fruit collectors over here are hungry for anything good. The importation restrictions, and state agriculture restrictions make it hard to get good plant material sometimes.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

This was covered in another thread. To summarize, it has largely to do with the fact that of all 50 states California has the strictest agricultural rules. Also California is not exactly a tropical climate, so these plants have to be either artificially grown in state or go through lots of red tape to be imported from elsewhere, both add costs.
