Low-chill Cherry trees?

(1/1)

jez251:
Does anyone know from where I can order some low-chill cherry trees?

And equally important, does anyone have any of these trees in South Florida and can share how they have fared a far as fruiting?

Jaime

Jsvand5:
You are not going to find them now. Pretty much every nursery that stocks them sells tham as dormant bare root trees in the fall/winter.

I bought mine from Raintree nursery. They were ok quality trees. I ordered them too late in the season though. I think if I would have ordered earlier in the year they would have come in better shape.

jez251:
Thanks. I will try and remember to get them in the fall.

Jaime

Future:
Easy.  Surinam cherry.  Zero chill hours.

Is it possible to grow sweet cherries in South Florida, even a low-chill variety (200 to 300 chill hours required)?  Sounds impossible to me.  Maybe in the northern part of the state.
