Garcinia prainiana is possible but the skin looks a bit thick and flesh looks a bit white.White fleshed tampoi can look much like that but no sections appear dominant.

but cherapu flesh is soft, not firm, with thin skin.

 Yes Mike, it is Baccaurea macrocarpa in West Malaysia we call it Tampoi fruit or Larah fruit.

macrocarpa again froma  different angle..how about that... i runinto this species twice incouple days after not really being cognizant at all.. i hope this means i iwill be eating it withing twelve months :)  THANKS!

I think it is  Baccaurea macrophylla or maybe B. macrocarpa if the flesh of macrocarpa can be white.

It is just like the B.macrocarpa gown around here and I should have picked it in a heartbeat.White fleshed ones are encountered moe often here and I have been told are better in quality than the yellow.
