After a few years break I went to the Amazonian rainforest in Venezuela and had a chance to taste tree ripened  Yara Yara fruits.
It is a feast as much for the eyes as it is for the mouth.
The orange pulp covering the seeds are quite sweet and juicy with a flavour of apricot. But the best part is the center of the fruit, where there are no seeds disturbing. This part is like a caramel, very sweet and creamy. It gives you a Wow sensation and makes you instantly happy.
Most probably, Duguetia lepidota is one of a few Duguetias where the center of the fruit can be eaten.

They have  a good taste with a bit of bitterness.
This plant is dioecious so you need a male and female plant to produce fruit. Trees grow up to 30 meter tall and are quite ornamental especially the trunk that peals at times similar to Jaboticaba.

Hi all,
Has anyone had success propagating Russell Garcinia with grafting. If so what rootstock would work. I heard some Asian Garcinias like Garcinia cowa might do a good job. I tried grafting them on Garcinia brasilensis and it was unsuccessful.

Duguetia marcgraviana is a fast growing Duguetia with big sweet apricot flavoured fruta.
Duguetia lepidota from the Amazonas in Venezuela. It is one of the best, if not the best of all Duguetias. It has a fabulously creamy sweet apricot-like taste. The inner center of the fruit is edible as well and tastes even better than the pulp around the seeds.
The seeds can take from 3 months to 1 year to germinate and prefer soil rich in organic matter

This year I  found a new variety of Yara Yara. Instead of orange color it is yellow on the inside. The taste is less juicy and more creamy a bit like a very good Pouteria lucuma  flavor.
When fully ripe the outside skin remains green very different from the normal Yara Yara that turns red when fully ripe. I call this variety Culebra as I found a poisonous snake next to it.
So it seems that  there are quite a few varieties of Yara Yara due to crosspollination. This year I started identifying 3 different varieties.

1 Supreme Delight as seen below. Big fruit but tree not as productive. Taste is sweet with an Orange Apricot flavor, juicy around the seeds and creamy in the center . The Center is the best part of the fruit.
2. SD 2    smaller fruits more productive
3. Culebra  Yellow fruit, less juicy around the seeds   SOLD OUT!!!!

Annona duckei is a sweet very rare fruit from the Peruvian jungle. The fruit is a bit smaller than a tennisball and has a sweet pleasant taste. 6 Euro/seed

Miyazaki Mango a red Mango weighing about 700 grams. It is supposed to be 15 sweeter than an ordinary Mango. I wonder what Brix that would be 150? Any Japanese members have tried this mango?

After 3 month finally my Duguetia marcgraviana seeds are germinating. It is a very tasty big Duguetia. I have seen trees in Patios in Bolivia grown up to 10 Meters height and quite productive.
