I drive past about 50 street trees of them each day on my way to work and many are more than 40 years old.The good tasting ones seem to be from trees in the best spots.Often they are called musk apples due to the musky flavor. They are always a bit dry and the seeds can be loos and rattle around when you shake them.

The tree is very ornamental and the fruit is very tasty IMO; sweet and refreshing with a hint of roses  ::)

We have them here...I find them interesting...but kind of like eating a sponge soaked in rose water. Not something I go out of my way to eat, but a pretty tree, nice flower and an unusual taste.

Must have good genetics from the seeds you planted.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

We cant grow them anymore. Rust kills (eats) new growth and fruit.  :(

Ditto here. They used to be a god awful weed all along the roads. Almost as bad a strawberry guava. Now because of the rust they are history. I liked the taste of the fruit, but scary fast invasive grower in the tropics.

not too different from malay...
a bit smaller and generally better tasting, one of my favorite fruits by far.many times it barely produces seed. it is more closely related to water apple which is like a mini version.

malay plants have different shaped leaves, larger fruit, larger tree, generally more deep red and polyembryonic seed.
