Need help ID Jujube Variety
« on: March 09, 2017, 12:01:55 PM »
Can someone help me ID this Jujube variety?  I have a few Li Jujube variety but this is the one that the wife want.  This is very crunchy, watery, refreshing, but only mildly sweet.  Also, where can I get some scion woods?

Thanks.

I think either the Taiwan jujube is a type of Indian jujube, or it is actually just a name for Indian jujube when sold by Taiwanese nurseries.

Is Indian jujube expensive? Taiwanese jujube is actually pretty pricey.

My mom and a couple of friends grow the Taiwanese jujube. Friends get good amount of fruit set, my mom not so much, but the plant gets pretty big when it's not setting fruits.

I know ranch99 in san diego sold indian jujube ( label As sweet jujube) at 4.99/lbs.

Thanks for the info, fellas.  I can take it from now.  Going to the ranch99 market to confirm that is it the right ones and I will just have to get a plant to get scion wood then top work one of my Li Jujube.

Let us know how it does on a red jujube. I'm particularly interested in knowing if it'll keep growing when the rootstock goes dormant or if the Indian jujube goes dormant too.

i was actually under the impression that Indian Juju is ziziphus mauritiana

a couple of others i am interested in
ziziphus mucronata is an African Buffulo thorn
Ziziphus spina-christi ‎, also Z. Mistol

and i thought Thai Juju was just a variety of Indian ?
