I ordered a Maha Chanok from Top Tropical and received a notice yesterday that it had shipped. I arrived home today to find
it on my front porch. T.T. stated that it was large for a 3 gallon and they were right - it's 39" from base of the tree to the top.

Directly behind the Maha is my NDM. In the background between the 2 trees is my Scuppernong grape arbor. Directly behind the
pine tree is a key lime and to the far left is a Kent.

Wow...very nice looking tree. I bought a LZ last month from Tropical and it's about 1/2 that size.

I noticed some yellow spots on the top side of my Lychee leaves (Photo #1) and when I turned them over,
I discovered these white spots on the underside (Photo #2). Sorry about the quality of the shots; it was getting
dark quickly.

What is it and how should I treat it?

Thanks!

Not a Carrie. They turn yellow as they ripen and have no red on them.

Nice, I bet that pineapple smells incredible!

It does. I was considering one more day before picking but thought my luck would run out and a critter would get it tonight.

Excellent post murahilin. Thank you!

Your tip pruning has definitely paid off and the trees look great. I plan to tip prune mine as soon as I pull the last mango off
as it's getting up to about 7'.

Worst of all are the pygmy rattlesnakes, they love to move in in pots, allways have to be on the lookout for those, quite a few people been bit over the years grabbing pots in garden centers, while poisonous and not deadly for most healthy peple, kids and elderly can certainly die from a bite if not treated immediately, most of them here in south fl are 12 to 14 inches long and love to crawl into the draiholes of 3 gallon pots, my jack russel goes out on snake patrol every morning,he has gotten quite good at it,unfortunately he kills more rat snakes then anything and thaey are pretty harmless and beneficial.

Thanks...good to know.

All I hear lately are red headed woodpeckers. I normally don't see many of them but they have discovered and fallen in love with my Kent tree.
:D, I have them around too. I hate it when peck on the gutters.  I wonder if they are also responsible for big holes on my ripe papaya fruits. Although I think those starlings are the culprits. They are very clever birds.

At least the woodpeckers will stay with one mango until full. The squirrels will gnaw on one to see if it's ripe enough and move on to the next one, and so on.

C-Mike get that lychee in the ground  :). You seem to hv lots more space.
More fruit trees planted please.
Btw your trees look excellent was that Kent planted by you or was it there when you purchased?
How has the productivity been?
I think i want one for my desert climate. I large tree is good for me. i love the taste of the Kent mango, i think its underrated !
Love the way your trees look, keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!!
Mike

I purchased the Kent from Jene's Tropicals about 10 years ago. I think it was a 7 gal. and needless to say, has grown fast. Production has been good, except this year when Anthracnose got it. Here's a photo from last year. The other side of the tree had just as many mangoes.

Is the Plant Doctor/Pentra-Bark different from the regular Organocide Plant Doctor?

Sorry for the confusion. They are 2 different products; the Plant Doctor from HD and the Pentra-Bark purchased online. I read somewhere on this forum that a member used the two, mixed with water, to spray on the trunk and had no problem with Anthracnose. Thought I would give it a try since the tree is too tall to reach with a sprayer.

847
Very nice Pug!  You certainly have a way with mangos.  Too bad the winters don't treat your plants with a little more respect!

Wow! Those are huge.

848
Great post and photos Gary. I hope your festival will pick up steam and become a very successful annual event.

I plan to pot the Lemon Zest for a year or two until I decide whether to take out the Macadamia tree. It's not looking too healthy and every year the squirrels pick it clean while the nuts are still green.

I really like the Kents. Last year, the tree had about 50 - 60 mangoes and they were excellent. This year, unfortunately, the Anthracnose got to it and I only have a few good ones. I tried spraying with Copper as I did last year, but the tree is so high that the sprayer could not reach the higher level. This year I plan to try the Plant Doctor/Pentra-Bark combo that another forum member used with success and apply it at 6 week intervals from October through blooming and fruit production.

I purchased the Carrie, Kent, Lychee and Nam Doc Mai from Jene's Tropicals. I was hoping to find a LZ at her July 20th - 21st Festival. She did have some nice
varieties but unfortunately no LZ.

You are correct that I'm in Zone 10 and it does help to have the Gulf and Tampa Bay surrounding us to help during the cold snaps.

Thanks for the information regarding covering the trees. I might do it this last time and let them go after that. If my Kent is any indications, the 2 - 3 hours at/below 32 will have little effect on them.
