Tropical Fruit Discussion / I’m Looking for help regarding Annonas
« on: January 25, 2021, 08:44:27 PM »
Hello everyone! I have the following species of annonas in pots. I’m trying to maximize on natural pollination I plan to add them to the ground soon.
1 atemoya
3 cherimoya
1 biriba/rollinia
4 purple sugar apple
1 green sugar apple
1 custard apple
(All are grown from seed, bought them from tradewindfruits)
So first off, do I need more than one atemoyas or is one enough? I heard it has poor self pollination. Is this true?
Can cherimoyas grow well within the Caribbean?
I will be planting the sugar apples close to each other about 8ft apart. Will this reduce the need of hand pollination?
Lastly, any additional advice about growing annonas will be helpful.
In addition, I’m basically aiming for tropical fruit trees that are prolific and will not require the need for hand pollination.
