Over 150 videos are still private because i have not yet identified lots of the wild jungle fruit i ate. Is there somebody willing to help me id lots of Garcinia, Baccaurea, Ficus, Xanthophyllum, Willughbeia and other fruit species, some very tasty, mostly from the Borneo jungle? I would be very grateful for that.

Dang the durio z x kutejensis must have been amazing
-
Mercy. Epic.
-
Yes, the durian hybrid was great. Fortunately they did not pick it underripe like most kutejensis.
Thanks, Future
-
Wow that is a really great effort there, I bookmarked the pages. The videos will be a great reference for people... well done.
-
This is some amazing work. Definitely gonna work my way through these videos.
-
I am jealous. Well done

What is the region or town where you found it?
-
Thank you. Such comments motivate me to make more videos. In January i plan to go back to Borneo.
The durian is from Tamiang Layang. Just one single fruit on the market. Never saw it again.

Hi amigo I am not sure if you have the book "A Guide to Wild Fruits of Borneo" by Anthony Lamb.
It might help you ID a few of the fruits?
It is a great book for anyone else interested in the fruits of Borneo by the way...

Try also the book, if you can get it, Wild Fruits and Vegetables of Sarawak.

Watching some of your videos, great stuff. Fun seeing the things you have found.
Looking forward to going back to Borneo, always an adventure!
-
Thanks for the book suggestions but i take off tonight, no time for delivery. Might liik for them in Malaysia.
@Kada: thank you and if you think Borneo is an adventure you should go to Kalimantan. No white people at all. When i went back to Sarawak i was staring at every white person not believing my eyes😂

The book i recommended is put out by the Malaysian ag department.
BTW, Kalimantan is part of island of Borneo. I think you meant to say Indonesian Borneo vs. Malaysian Borneo?
-
Good. So i will look for the book in Malaysian book shops.
Actually calling Kalimantan Borneo when you are in Indonesia is like calling Scottland England. They are pretty touchy about that. And even in the Malaysian part there are people who explain to me that this is not Malaysia, this is Sarawak. Kind of like North Ireland is not Britain. Such things might not be too important for us but after some time i renamed my Kalimantan videos from "Borneo" to "Kalimantan" as to not insult anyone.

Yes i understand what you are saying. But the name "Borneo" refers to an island, not to any country. The island of Borneo has areas belonging to 3 countries on it: Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei. I think only westerners use the name "Borneo" and it's probably confusing to some of the people that live there?
-
In Malaysia they usually use "Borneo". In Indonesia they know this name but do not like it.
-
If you are in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, you can get the book "A Guide to Wild Fruits of Borneo" from" The Borneo Shop" https://theborneoshop.com/ , it carries all the books from Natural History Publications. Most bookstores usually don't have this kind of books cos it not Harry Porter tat can easily sell.
-
Thank you, i plan to go there👍

If you able to send photos of the fruit to my Whatsapp +62 812 3688 1182, i will try to help identify the fruits.
Except for ficus, i don't know ficus species at all.
Even maybe i couldn't help much in identify, but maybe i know some species.

Every Borneo (Part of Indonesia or Kalimantan) fruiting season starting on about January until March, i'm always departed to Borneo (Kalimantan) since 2014 to explore, hunting and searching wild fruits to collect the seeds.
I'm collecting wild fruit seeds for my customers, and it's my main occupation and always doing it every year.
And by the way i'm living in Central Java, Indonesia.
In hunting wild fruits, i have visited Pontianak/Sanggau/Sekadau/Putussibau (West Kalimantan), Banjarmasin/Tanjung (South Kalimantan), Pangkalan Bun/Palangkaraya/Sanggau/Murung Raya (Central Kalimantan).
If someone want to search wild fruits in Kalimantan, i'm able and offering a service as a guide.
Rate negotiable, i'm not bringing a car but using public transportations, i suggest you to rent a car or motorcycle.
All you need is following me moving around Kalimantan, cause some species only grows in specific places (For example Willughbeia elmerii, only grows in West Kalimantan and can't be found in East, Central or South Kalimantan).
Planning to depart to Kalimantan island on about middle January from Solo city, Central Java but the flight are from Yogyakarta Airport.
Anyone interested, can contact me.
-
Thank you for the offer, Maryoto. I am not sure if i will make it to Kalimantan this time since i plan to concentrate on West Malaysia, Sabah and the Brunei/Miri area (lots of Durian species i have never tried).
-
@Maryoto: Did they finish the new road from West to East Kalimantan? That would be a reason for me to go there.

No i don't sell it. I just got my own copy in the mail from abebooks.com. It's a very nice book, lots of color photos, many rare species. A definite must have for serious collectors.

Ok, then i will maybe just stick to Malaysia.
