for sure.

I actually am aware of him and his mentor Charlie Trotter. Like Adam said he prolly offed himself due to big time money problems. I would never do that especially with two children. But he was an artiste with all this entails.

My observation is that many immigrant entrepreneurs get here and go into food and agriculture businesses of some kind. They even eff up and go bankrupt more than once and get through it. Mr Cantu should have taken a longer perspective and done the same. He had a good reputation and could have recycled himself with new investors backing him thanks to this Federal Reserve funny money bubble economy.

His mentor Charlie Trotter was very interesting. He was a solid and successful top restauranteur who ran his own place for 24 years in Chicago. He retired at age 53 to get a degree in philosophy or similar. He died 18 months later from a heart attack

just for the record...i never said he killed himself...I just posted the article about the lawsuit...

but I would not be surprised if there was foul play, or drug usage involved in this case...

@Adam...news accounts say he was found hanged as in done by himself

Quote
The famed chef behind Moto and iNG was found dead of hanging in Chicago on Tuesday, in what authorities believe was a suicide.

There is lots of coke, marijuana, alcohol use in the high tension restaurant business. Go read Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain (who I like his travelogs on TV)
You can zip through that book in no time flat

yes, but he didn't leave a note, and he had a wife and two kids...

there may have been a motive to kill him...just saying...I wouldn't rule out foul play yet.
