but... a very neat video.
worms and other soil critters are important !!
a deep natural mulch layer can create excellent soil.
rain filters down through it, bringing with it microbes of different kinds and sizes
not to mention free minerals and a waste-stream (bug - poop)
creating the best natural fertilizer...
recently i got some sawdust, bags of leaves
100lb sacks of coffee grounds, and bags of grass clippings.
mixed them up, and used as mulch around the base of my trees.
working excellent so far...

That’s awesome, thanks for sharing! I wonder what would happen if the same leaf litter were drenched with Chemical or organic fertilizers?

well, certainly with most chem ferts
they are known to lower counts of beneficial microbes
especially higher-order ones, like earthworms.
"organic" is a term that can be used to mean several things.
and there are absolutely some companies who just want to get on the train
and use the word "organic", because they know it will sell.
companies who actually care about their product
can produce good products that actually increase (beneficial) life in the soil.
plain fish emulsion works well for me, i get mine as a liquid
but dry organics can help too.
But really... worms and other critters who help break down leaves
(and other organic matter) are really what you want.
its hard to improve on nature.
