I'm more worried about cold up here, especially at night. For seedlings how much cold can they tolerate?

152
They were having issues before I added any fertilizer, they were in normal cactus/citrus mix (second photo was taken before adding any fertilizer)

153
I've tried fertilizing and spraying with copper antifungal with no luck. Very sad about this, is there anything else that I should be trying? They are currently indoors by a window so it shouldn't be due to cold or wind. Some examples of what the leaves look like:

154
If so, which species / cultivar should I try?

Have a large Haas tree but wanted to try topworking part of it - what are the best cultivars I could use for this? Bonus points if it is very different from Haas (in a good way).

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: What's in season now in Maui?
« on: September 16, 2019, 08:22:52 PM »
Just food for thought:  ask on the Hawaii tropical fruit growers Maui chapter fb page for tips.

I didn’t think there was much on Maui then all of a sudden my friend is posting up pics of keledang seeds he got from fruit from a guy on Maui.   So u gotta do some research!

Thanks, I will monitor that. Unfortunately I'd need to pay for a membership to ask questions about what I should be looking for, but hopefully people post some cool stuff

Hopping on plane tomorrow, going to Ono farm tour but also wanted to know what I should seek out while I'm there

158
I have had them in plastic bags for a week and the scales haven't started falling off yet. Not sure if I picked them underripe, or if I need to wait longer.

The erowid reports on Datura are very disturbing

What varieties do people recommend? This is in Santa Barbara region. Rootstock is old apricot that doesn't produce anymore. I'm new to grafting so less finicky varieties are a plus. I enjoy pluots and nectarines the most but I am not sure what is compatible with apricot.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Fruit trees with the shortest lifespan?

Was curious which ones don't last as long.

saw this in another thread here, you may find it interesting: http://htfg.org/conferences/2016/2016_JohnYoshimiYonemoto_PruningforAvocadoandMangoProduction.pdf

super dense greenhouse planting in japan, using wire to help support the plant and increase fruit production.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / WTB pickering on manila rootstock
« on: July 12, 2019, 02:10:32 PM »
In CA where manila apparently does better than turpentine. Any advice on where to buy (if you aren't selling) would also be appreciated.

Plant is in partial shade, just put it in sun for the picture. Soil is kept moist. This is in Santa Barbara region which has been a bit cold and foggy recently. What could be causing this? What should I do to remedy?

165
Is there a particular cultivar that is the most cold hardy that I should try?

167
Can it fruit in a pot?

168
I feel like an issue with that is if the tree is old enough to have flowers, fruit is only a year or so off at most (maybe you don't let it set fruit the first time it flowers) and then you can just try the fruit. If all you need is a leaf smell, the iteration time is a lot faster - don't need to wait for flowers.

169
Could this be grown in Santa Barbara? Not sure if that is too cold.

170
Are any still available?

Leaves on my seedlings are crunchy and have black spots - not sure what could be causing this.

Temperate Fruit Discussion / Can pawpaw be grown in Twin Cities area?

Not sure if this is too cold for them.

173
I have a Honeyhart in a five gallon pot, I am wondering if it is ok to plant it in the ground yet or whether I should keep it in a pot longer. Which will lead to a more successful, healthy plant?

174
Would all of those varieties do ok in pots?

175
If so, which one should I get? Looking for something self fertile / lower maintenance / easy to care for.
