Very mature DARK STAR dragonfruit cuttings for sale
« on: April 14, 2021, 08:17:38 PM »

I had to heavily trim a very mature dark star (over 10 years old)

The small cuttings are 14" ($10) medium are $15 and the very large ones are $20. Some are over 30" long!

Can you describe the flavor, sweetness, & acidity?

Is yours self fertile?  There seems to be some debate on this.

I actually purchased this plant from a long time member. He says he thinks its self fertile but admits he will combine a lot of pollen together and bulk pollinate so it's hard to be sure.

And since I've just got a hold of the plant I don't know how it tastes.

Google says it's a mild grape flavor and can reach 19 brix. I've seen it hit over 20. Several dragonfruit growers I know have described it as being among their favorites.

Dark Star is a self fertile dragon fruit because I harvest some from one that is far away from any dragon fruit

Pollinators like wasps and bees can carry pollen over long distances...so if there are dragonfruit in the area, and it sounds like there are, cross pollination could easily be occurring.

The fruit set will be better with plants right next to each other, but they could still be cross pollinating.
