There is 50-100 year old Avocado tree's all over Santa Cruz and 1 commercial farm I know of, I mention for fact only not recommendation , " Abounding Harvest"  ::)

Huge MacNuts in SC too, but not surprised we are not represented on the Map. I think that map is 1/2 truth accurate on the most general of scales.

 California Avocado demission seems like a glorified Guacamole lobbyist group.

Cost of land where they grow well often makes a new investment into the Avocado Orchard game not that smart, unless your banking on long term, and then one good freeze and your screwed.

I've been solely managing a 10 year old Avocado and Citrus Orchard here on about 1 acre. Growing well except idiot landowners keep cutting off the water at all the wrong times and now they sliced up my irrigation lines to install a new 2" main to feed their stupid 5 acres of grapes they just put in. California does not need 1 more stupid grape vine planted anywhere! You see them everywhere in CA spreading like a legal pot growing cash cow.

10 fruits could be considered highly productive for a 2 year old tree with 3" trunk.
I'm seeing hundreds of fruits drop now from bigger tree's . It's part of it.

Your yard and tree's are looking great Containerman! I'm sure the wood helps keep the root temperatures happier than in plastic pots and looks better too. I am in the process of planting out Pixie, Page, Fukushu, Eustis and Smith Red Citrus that I have had in pots for 6 years. They are in 25, 45, and 65 gallon pots. Not that fun wrangling them into the ground but they are rootbound and drying out daily right now during flower and fruit set. I know they will be much happier and fruit tenfold soon come now.

Put those Avo tree's in the ground. Shade it from midday sun until 5-6 feet tall. They're not going to fruit in a pot and want to be in the ground from 5 gallon size.

I heard the bigger the better because they hate being repotted, makes sense to me since my Wurtz was beautiful when I brought it home but after moving it up from a #5 to about a 20 gallon it looked bad for months.

In all seriousness though, thats true. Also some professional nursery Men and Women get too busy running the farm or business. Last year was a heavy hit for some with the hurricane in Florida, still recovering.
If you get bored with rare fruit , you were just on the bandwagon for some reason anyway.
How many different fruits are there to grow, and cultivars within those species, multiple lifetimes can be spent on all the possibilities.

You could start direct seeding some rootstock Seeds into the ground now, to graft next spring. It's going to be tough , if not impossible to turn them around as described , in my experience. Instead of nursing along sick plants ,  or along with,  get some more rootstock going so you could graft your sickly varieties on there , or get more scion to graft.
Shade them from Midday sun right now. Good luck.

I have big plants intertwined that are either V. Child or P. Graffiti, So intertwined that it's impossible to differentiate.
I could do 10 Yellow and 20 mixed unlabeled pieces of V. Child and P. Graffiti for $60 plus about $15 shipping to you.
So 30 Pieces total for $2 apiece.

Mark, Ive suspected Imbe may be the best rootstock for Luc's in CA since it likes the drier conditions. A friend on dry side of the Big Island tops his 20 year old Imbe thicket to 4 FT every year for increased fruit production. I only have 2 year old seedlings from his Imbe , but it's had me thinking. Your experience further's this line of thought for me.

Luc's is the only Garcinia I have tried starting from seed.

Great idea! Your plants will love you even more. Plant out those comfrey and let them spread , and their roots in the ground by crops is beneficial.

At least a few. This Madruno is taller than I am , no greenhouse protection, 7 hours north of San Diego.
The tree has apparently hopscotched over CA and looks like it wished it lived in San Diego though. No new growth flush yet this year. Still trying to dial in the best location for it.
