Fruiting Barbados Cherry from seed.

Hey Forum,

Have had Barbados cherry before and was unimpressed with the fruit, until today where the fruit I ate was delicious and sweet. I’m going to plant the few seeds I kept, but wondering how long it takes to fruit from seed? Have read many sources that say to propagate from cuttings as germination rates are low. Any experience with this is appreciated thanks.

The seedlings aren’t true to type so there’s a chance you can can get an inferior fruit. Cuttings are easy to propagate. If you are in the west palm beach area you are welcome to some cuttings, I might even have a small plant back there.

Is it possible to get cuttings from the tree that produced the sweet fruit?
They have rooted real easy for me but they take a while

cuttings aren't too bad for rooting, could you possibly air layer the mother tree?

Cuttings are so easy, finger sized with a few buds and stick them in a pot. I don't even protect them, just out in the open.
