I have never seen a plum sized lemon drop. The looks like Garcinia intermedia and mine are a similar size. I have another one that’s called Garcinia brasilensis and it has bigger fruit but no where near an apricot or plum. I’ll see if I have any pictures. I just ate fruit from both trees recently

Garcinia xanthochymus has larger yellow fruits and have a lemony flavor as well  but are much more sour and have a yellow flesh instead of white. They are bigger and maybe the size of a small apricot.

Those look too large for pitomba. Outside is similar to monos plum but is a sweet fruit and the inside is different. Any pics of leaves?

I haven’t had a chance to read it yet myself but try looking for bill Whitman’s book. I think it is called five decades with fruit or something along those lines. Guy was a pioneer

If anyone inside the us (preferably Florida) has any seedling they want to trade hit me up. I’ve got hella myrtaceae up for trade.

Also does anyone know the graft compatibility with myrcianthes fragrens? I’d be down to trade something for some bud wood and Be the test dummy.

They can fruit in their own

I really like these fruits. I think they have a taste similar to lemonade. When they are still yellow they have a thinner skin that is more edible. Once they turn orange the skin becomes more thick and I don’t like eating it. I have a container tree That is 4 or 5 years old. I’m still waiting for it to fruit

I have a bunch of lemon drops in one and three gallon containers. They have been through a lot of neglect and lasted long times without water. I keep some 3 gallon containers in a corner of my yard that regulalry floods in the summer and they are fine too. I keep some one gallons in full sun. They don’t seem to like it very much but aren’t dying either.

My estimation is once they’re decently established (over a year) they can handle a lot. I have Also tried the improved brasilensis lemon drop too. They have a pointed bottom and are smaller. The fruits taste sweeeter than the round ones.

Lots of eugenias do well in containers and most can fruit in. 2-5 years

I'm not a big fan of guavas either but I like the cas guava (Psidium friedrichsthalianum). I've only had them a couple of times but It's a sour fruit (which I love) with a nice tropical flavor. Bit of a grainy texture. I'm growing a few from seed but I like them enough I'm thinking of buying a tree to put in my yard to skip some of the wait.

Myrciaria flouribunda is the scientific name. Also known as rumberry.  They're related to jabos. Small red to dark berries that have a sort of woody flavour. I really enjoy them but I wish they were bigger.

The berries are used to make a guavaberry liquor that is popular in sint marteen. They sell the liquor at total wine too. beautiful landscape tree as well. Not too sure where to find a tree however.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Why won’t my miracle berry produce fruit?
« on: September 05, 2018, 09:21:10 AM »
Do miracle fruit benefit from cross pollination? My plant is going through something similar. Last year when I bought it, I brought it home with close to 50 fruits on it. This year I've only gotten 3 fruit as well. I only have the one plant at this time - in partial shade in a 7 gallon pot.
