big ole jabo
« on: May 11, 2014, 01:18:51 PM »
Thought I would share this picture. It's my friend lazaro and his jaboticaba  tree. He's from the southern part of Brazil where jabo is native to. He has several, this is the best looking one.
He also lives one house away from the Winchester property. Mr. Winchester used to own a ton of dairy farms and land in Boynton, notably the old Motorola land, and everything where renaissance commons and target and best buy and Wal-Mart and the like are currently built upon. In his yard is a 30 year old jabo, a 40ft spreading sapodilla, and many mango trees.

Sid, he said I just missed the fruit, he filled ten 5g buckets with fruit. He gave me a bunch of frozen ones.

That's actually tiny compared to my neighbor's tree. I'll try and upload some pics tomorrow, it has fruit on it right now due to the rain.

The bird netting tied up like that is interesting.   Birds can take the majority of the fruit. I'm sure that slows them down some.

The net goes all around and over the top, he says only raccoons get under the net to take fruit
