Need a fast rootstock
« on: June 22, 2021, 09:52:56 PM »
Hi everyone, I got more budwood than expected from the ccpp and now I have to quickly root some cuttings hopefully before the scions dry out. How long are citrus scions viable in the fridge? Is it true sour orange shoots with thorns dont produce fruit? And are shoots from the trunk better than from the canopy. Thank you in advance to everyone helping others out on this amazing forum!

Graft all on a big tree.
Cut scions or air-layer later.

Good advice, I do that with my extras (or rare scions) when I don't have time to graft onto the final destination tree. Also, you will have higher graft  success when you cut your own scion and graft it immediately at a later date.

I need some rootstock for a ccpp order and bought a cheap orange tree from lowes to graft onto.  It worked out well and I have a nice 2 variety tree in 5gal pot ready to plant a couple months later.
