Last mangoes hanging on trees this year
« on: August 23, 2015, 09:58:40 AM »
South Florida:
Still have eight Neelam otherwise mangoes are done. Last 5 Kents were stolen a few days ago :( and last Keitts were picked yesterday. So my mango season is done! An early finish to the year. Usually there are Keitts into September though I see a neighboring Keitt tree should have fruits into early September.

Right now California mangoes are at their peak of availability

Would you say that your Sweet Tart trees have an exceptionally long season?

And how did the quality compare to the earlier fruit?

I have a second crop of cogshall, 76, 1 Edward, 10-15 Duncans, 4 ST, a bunch of manga blanc, 10 Peggy recommend this mango as a nice late mangos for you guys, and few other stuff.

Cogshall is a well adapted tree for Socal growers with an early and late crop.....not you best tasting mango but desirable especially in October

Harvest last night Duncan, Cogshall and ST

I just picked the last Sweet Tart off my tree today.

I have one left on my small tree. Mine all matured late and were small in size.. I assumed that the reason was because the ratio of leaves to fruit was roughly 1:1.   My bad.....

I just ate my last Venus mango (purchased).  The skin was blotchy and wrinkled, and I figured I had waited too long.

But the flavor was exquisite.  Go Venus !

Alex, i asked about fruit a few weeks ago and you said you were done, but i just read in this thread that you have all these varieties still available?  Did you not want to ship fruit?

Just picked my last Graham. I have 2 LZ left on the tree and about 10 NDM hanging. I have been eating NDM since the middle of June. Seems like extended season to me! Is that typical of NDM? This is the first year harvesting them. :)

There's only a couple fruit on those trees and I stopped shipping weeks ago. Its really just for myself and family/friends.

The Edward looks so yummy. I have a grafted tree over 6ft and bushy with drooping branches. I told it that it's ok to have babies and hope it will give me a few next year :)

JF, I heard so much about how good Sweet Tart was, and wonder if you have any scions that I can buy now or near future?

Neelam, Graham, and Sweet Tart.  My Keitt was consumed with fungus and had no fruit this year.

I'm feeling "mango poor."

Sorry to hear about your Keitt.  I guess sometimes bad things happen to good trees.
Hope you had a good season overall.

I have one Sweet Tart in the fridge. After that it's mango deficit for many moons.  :-\

I read somewhere that other fruits can be grown in Florida. I guess I should check into that.

Sapote, Edward is a great mango but tough to grow. I've had massive 2-3 pounds Edwards this year but I only had 6-7 fruits on my 5 year old tree. Sure you can PM about ST.

Adam, my mango trees are still too young from 1-5 years old but so far the early ones start to ripen late July and Keitt and Chocannon can hang on the tree until February

Waited 5 yrs for the grafted Edward to have fruits??? My 2 yrs grafted Edward is the fastest growing mango in my house, but so far there was no fruits survived over a peas size.

Thanks,
Sapote
