Is anyone experienced with top-grafting Kaffir Lime on a seasonal basis?

I'm considering top grafting Kaffir Lime onto 6-8 year old Poncirus trees in the late Spring. This would only be for the duration of the season, knowing that Fall temperatures would quickly kill them off.
Does anyone have experience doing this and was the resulting growth worth the effort? If successful, I may be eating a lot of Thai food next Summer!

I did the opposite, top work my kiffir lime and grafting maiwa and clementine de nule on it lol

Might work, I don't know I have never grafted for just a season's growth. Seems like a lot of work for such a short time.

Another, simpler approach might be to start seedlings this time of year and pushing their growth until end of the growing season, treating them as annuals.

This is 5 months of growth from T-Budding of New Zealand lemonade to Seville sour orange.  If this is enough foliage to use I would say yes.

KL on PT shows a slow growth rate. No so good combination for a season. Also to me the leaves don't smell so good with PT compared to other rootstocks.
