who's accidentally grafted a scion on, upside down?

(1/1)

FlyingFoxFruits:
I may have grafted some surinam cherry scions on, upside down...they don't seem to care...

anyone else don't this by accident or on purpose?

I guess its commonly used to dwarf trees? or no?
thanks waft grizzards

Guanabanus:
Several times.  They live initialy, but have to twist around to grow upright, and the twist is a weak point where the plant tends to break later, at least with mangos, carambolas, annonas, and mamey-sapotes.

Cookie Monster:
I did it to a julie once (accidentally). A neighbor eventually bought it, and as of the last time I saw it the tree was doing well. It's not hard to do when you're shield budding, especially if the leaf on the scion is twisted around and you're not paying attention.
