We've already talked about this somewhat.

I've tried longan rootstock, for alupag, and I failed...This was due to technique I'm sure.

Lychee and longan can be cross grafted. But that doesn't mean that it's easy. FYI lychee and longan can even be cross pollinated to form hybrid fruits.
I believe that alupag has been grafted onto longan, but not 100% on that one.

i have been trying to do this graft (lychee onto longan rootstock) but like many other said....its not easy at all. there is some growth on the scion but it is dying back right after first leaves try to emerge...
btw, is there realy any lychee or longan cultivar that is a cross bteween them? is that sweet cliff?

Lychees are hard enough to graft onto other lychees let alone other species.Grafted lychees are pretty rare here.Only a modest % of longans and rambutans are grafted as compared to marcotted specimens.Grafted rambutans are more highly valued than marcotted specimens as they produce sturdier trees.

Rambutans are also hard to graft if you don't know the tricks. Yet all of the rambutan trees sold by nursery trade in Hawaii are grafted. Same is true for lychee...you just have to know how to do it.

Yes that's been done through hand cross pollination. I've never seen them but have read the fruits are good. The seeds from hybrids are sterile.
