Nice! My inground tree is still dormant, but my potted tree that I bring inside at night is leafing out, no sign of blooms yet. Hopefully my outdoor tree holds fruit this year, it dropped them all it's first time fruiting last year.

That far south! That is awesome :)
Is it the variety they call Hudson or winter. I think that is their names. They are a South Florida low chill variety.

Mine is Fuyu.. it has been on the ground for a couple of years, first time I've seen it blooming.. so excited

Now I'm thinking I should get one they call Ormond. It's very late season. Its nickname is the Christmas persimmon.
Ormond is a astringent persimmon that is 2.5" long fruit about 2" in diameter; fruits are reddish-yellow outside and deep orange-red inside, very sweet, moderately juicy, with large seeds. Fruits hang in clusters like grapes.
Vigorous mid-sized tree suited to warmer climates

When I was a kid the old-timers used to say. He's happier than a possum eating a persimmon
My Auntie Ina Mae use to make persimmon bread and persimmon pudding. Yum!

Is the fruit turning brown and woody? If so it's going to drop off. Happened to my Fuyu the first time it fruited, slowly dropped all of the 6 or so fruit until I had none. Hoping this year it will keep them

This is my first go-around with Persimmons but it looks like it's growing bigger and that brown part is just the ruminants of the flower.

All of mine are loaded. Going to be a big harvest this go around.

My Fuyu woke up a month ago and now has flowers. My Tanenashi only just started sprouting and does not have flower yet.

I have a fuyugaki in the ground, it has bloomed every year for like ten years now, but never has a fruit developed. Finally I noticed last year, two squirrels in the tree eating the blossoms. So be aware of those bastards.

Hi people, I just want to ask a fast question here instead of making a new tread. My persimmons had started swelling buds and then we had several hard frosts and the central buds, the plumpest ones seem to be damaged, the two smaller buds on both sides of the central are okay.Do persimmons flower only on the central bud growth ,or do they also flower on the side ones ?? Thanks !

I accidentally broke the only branch that had flowers, lol
How long does it usually take for them to flower/Fruit down here?

Wouldn't worry about it Khan.
While I know next to nothing about persimmon, just planted our Suruga tree about 2 months ago (2/2021).
4 gallon/4 foot tree delivered around December 1, 2020.
Here she is:

From my limited experience, Suruga flowers quick.

Hi people , my persimmons are starting to wake up and lo and behold .....ttttttttdmmmmm I one of them had tiny flower bud starts all over the place. The thing is when I took them out of the basement and planted them they already had started to swell buds ,and then we got a row of very cold nights of temps probably lower that -5 C . As u can see some of the main buds have been damaged and are not sprouting , but on both sides of them side shoots are appearing now.
I am still wondering if I should take the plants out of the ground and pot them and be done with this unsureness regarding their survival.

I got buds on my hybrids Nikita's gift and Rosseyanka. Americans might be too young. BTW does anybody have a line on any other hybrids? I am also looking for some of the Claypools (Prairie series, I think).
