I'm interested!!  ;D

Just two questions:

Will we have to stratify em?
Do they come from any named varieties ("mango" etc) or are they wild?

Almost certainly, I just took these out of the fruit this year, they have not been treated in any way.

Do they come from any named varieties ("mango" etc) or are they wild?

I'm a bit embarrassed to say I don't know, My family received the tree around 15 years ago and the fruit are pretty variable but all good making me think it is a wild tree, I haven't been back to see the tree since I have learned how to identify a graft due to the pandemic but I don't recall it being a named variety. It was bought from a nursery though.

Hi Elouicious I ask because I have 4 paw paws that survive, but that's all. I was hoping you were having better success than me.... D

How late did the michigan fruits ripen this year?

I know Jerry Lehman said Labor day weekend (september 7) is about the time to harvest
and pawpaw fest is Sep 14th - 17th

of coarse wetter ground can delay fruit ripening, but I would like to know where different area's harvest fruit by when.

I have many seeds
I am always trying to have seeds of different area's to widen the gene pool (In woods wild planting)
Maybe I could trade for different pawpaw seeds as someone could use these,
and do not want to ask of something I already have, (My Mom taught me that)

Would you want that Take some of my seeds spread them where your family lives, and send me some of yours from Michigan ?
(or anyone else send me some from there area for some of mine)

In Southern Texas a paw paw seed that was planted out and not given supplemental water wouldn't make it a year. They need nurturing in this climate. D

I was just discussing with another member whether or not these will grow in tropical or even subtropical climates, iirc they need significant chill hours to both set flowers and fruit.

I know they technically can grow this far south but I do not know of anyone with a heavily fruiting productive tree

The fruits have been ripening since before labor day and the last ones are still being picked- there are easily more than 400 pieces of fruit on this tree- it is quite old and productive and has a long season

I would love to swap some seeds and grow the gene pool- This is a great tasting fruit that unfortunately fell by the wayside because they do not ship well and ripen quickly, easily as good as a soursop and better than a non-named cherimoya imho
