Hello, I am aware of the california citrus budwood program but I cant seem to be able to find the Gold Nugget, and the Dekopon varieties. Do they have different names? Is it legal to buy them in other states or do I need to be located in california? I am in Hawaii and I really want to graft these two varieties onto my valencia orange tree. Please let me know or point me in the right direction if anyone knows. Thank you.

Citrus General Discussion / Any good summer ripening varieties?
« on: February 26, 2021, 04:10:50 AM »
Is there any good citrus varieties that you know of that ripen in the summer? I'm trying to plan out multigraft citrus tree for my backyard. Right now it's a dwarf Valencia orange but I want to graft on Cara Cara, and Shiranui Mandarin. I'm trying to find a good summer variety , please help. I like sweeter citruses if that helps narrow it down. Thanks!

Thanks everyone. The tree is still small so I'm thinking about grafting on a sharwil, because that is the fruit I want the most, then when that branches out, I'll graft on the other varieties to individual branches. thanks. Does anyone know I'd grafting onto the Wurtz will lower the vigor? that's what I want, to keep the tree a manageable size

I'm trying to do the same thing with a young avocado in my back yard. sofar I have a Wurtz, but I want to graft onto it Murashige - a summer avocado, a Malama- a early fall avocado, and a sharwil- a winter-spring avocado. It is multi year project and I don't have any grafts or fruit yet, just the idea.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Can you graft onto a graft?

Hello, I am new to fruit trees and newer to grafting. I am curious if it is possible to graft onto a graft? I have a Wurtz Avocado tree in my yard that is about a year old. I want to graft onto the main leader a malama variety, then after a few months of growth, graft onto the malama part a sharwill scion. maybe even graft onto that one in a few months a Murashige Avocado variety.
Is this possible or does it not work like that? my intent is to make a avocado tree that fruits most of the year.
and on a side note, will the wurtz, which is smaller than most trees, keep the overall tree small even though I've grafted larger more vigorous varieties? Please let me know! Mahalo.

Hello, My name is Keenan, I'm from Kaneohe Oahu. I'm a firefighter with the Honolulu Fire Dept. I just bought a house with my wife and the yard was a total mess, weeds and grass only. We started clearing the weeds and adding fruit trees and flowers around the perimeter. So far I have a avocado tree, a orange tree, a plumeria tree, a couple of different palms and a few different types of flowers. I am interested in good smelling flowers, dwarf fruit trees and grafting. 😁
