Any Meyer Lemon comments and commentary?
zands:
I have two plants that I bought at Lowes just for the hecks of it which was flooded with small Meyers...One for $10 and the other for $20. They are taking off and fruiting. Very precocious. Still in pots but the large one will be planted within 7 days and heavily mulched with tree trimmer wood chips THANKS! Z

I've had a meyer lemon for years and I love them. The tree is more compact than say a grapefruit and produces quite heavily. The fruit are sweeter than other varieties since it is really a hybrid, but still not sweet enough for fresh eating. Though I think your south enough it wouldnt effect your tree's, they are quite cold hardy. Mine experienced 18f for several hours with very minimal damage.

They are the thinnest skinned of all of the lemons. They do have a bit of "sweetness", or less sharp sour characteristics. They are a great all around lemon, great for juicing, cooking and yes, I know people who eat them (one person puts salt on them and eats them). I am sure Adam would say after a miracle fruit, they are fantastic eaten out of hand ;D 8)
You should have NO issues with cold. They are growing throughout Palm Beach County without any issues whatsoever. Just be sure to treat like any other citrus with a proper spraying regimen.
HMHausman:
Great back yard fruit. One of the few citrus trees that I thought worthy of re-planting out in the yard after most citrus had died off. Very productive and size manageable. Loads of fragrant blooms and almost a year round suppy of lemons. They are not nearly as acidic as Eureka, but they do quite nicely for most things needing lemon. Did I say how juicy they were? Very!

Yup, I agreee Great Lemon variety! I had one potted up for about 4 years and finally decided to plant it in the ground about a year and a half ago. Its first freeze defoliated the whole tree but did not kill it and re-leafed and recovered lately...it hasn't put out much fruits since I planted it in the ground but growing nicely.
Here it is in its permanent home...it has a VERY short graft, 2-3". It will be a short dwarf tree.
