You can try to graft on pitahaya (Hylocereus undatus). If you succeed you will get fruits in two years

Tropical Fruit Discussion / help identify this fruit tree
« on: August 25, 2019, 08:24:31 AM »
A friend of mine asked me to identify this tree; he said to me he got the seeds from me when I came back from Peru. I don't remember. The seeds are big (about 5 cm), striated.

Vary nice collection of rare fruits. Can you please describe tastes of Mangifera pajang, Ellateriospermum tapos, Nephelium meliferum, and Etlingera eliator?
Mangifera pajang: Fibrous sweet and sour, strong smell and flavour (a little bit like kuini), huge seed.
Ellateriospermum tapos: like almond but as it's an Euphorbiaceae it's seem to be dangerous to eat a lot even roasted.
Nephelium meliferum: like a ramboutan but a little bit more sweet and juicy
Etlingera eliator: a ginger candie good to complete salad and carry

Did you sample the buah langir?  I have heard it is supposed to be very sweet but have heard no particulars about the flavor or how much flesh there is?  If you could provide any details, it would be appreciated.

John*
Buah langir is very sweet with a good flavor. It is divided inside in several slices. Some fruits have only one slice some have five. Iban and Bidayuh use the skin for shampoo (I don't really know how).
