These are Haden mango?
« on: May 05, 2017, 11:00:34 AM »
Bought a couple of these at Aldi's .49 cents each...I thought Haden had some reddish/greenish along with yellow, these are all yellow. Label says Haden but is it really?

Grape tomato next to it for size reference

Row 6 has 3 small Haden with fungal issues so ripening early. They are red/yellow/green at my location (with brown fungal spots lol).

the fruit on the bottom could be Haden but the one above the tomato definitely isn't.

There are 4-5 product codes for mangoes and sometimes foreign growers will slap a coded label on regardless, as long as the mangoes looks consumer friendly. This is my theory.

Thanks guys! Both had the same label but the shape of the two are different. I ate one of them and its quite good, hardly any fiber at all...it wasn't very ripe so it had a little bit of tartness to it ( almost like a granny smith apple) but quite good, much better than the Tommy Atkins I've had from the same lot at the store... I will look for these and at that price I can't beat it...

I will let the other ripen for another day or so and it to see if it gets any sweeter...

The Save-A-Lot's in central Florida had mango's at 25cents each last week.  I didn't get a chance to make it to the store to see the quality or not but I've had a lot of luck at Fancy Fruit the last few weeks getting Alatufo at 79cents each and "regular" mangos at 69cents each.

The regulars have had a lot of fibre to them, but the Alatufo have been phenomenal.

Imported store bought mangoes are not even worth 25 cents. Dont know why some think they will find a diamond amongst the coal...
